Our 4th club race is on this Sunday, 7th January and it is set to be a scorcher. And for this race only, we are doing something different.
Instead of our usual long course event, we are having a 2-person relay. This event is based on the newest event at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games (for which Australia are the current World Champions) – the Triathlon Mixed Relay. We modified the rules a bit – only 2 members (any gender) per team, and our distances are a bit different.
Don’t have a team-mate? No problem, we will allocate team members on Sunday morning. The relay will start at 8am, and be in the following format.
Team Member 1
Start in transition and run to the pool
Swim 150m (one and a half loops)
Ride 6km (four laps of our L-shaped course, closed to traffic)
Run 1km (one loop of the park)
Hand your timing chip to your team-mate (who must put it on their ankle)
Team Member 2
Swim 150m (one and a half loops)
Ride 6km (four laps of our L-shaped course, closed to traffic)
Run 1km (one loop of the park)
FINISH!!!
Devils’ Races
The Little Devils will begin their races no earlier than 9:15am. We won’t start until all our relay competitors have finished.
The Big Devils will start no earlier than 9:30am. Both races will be in their usual format.
Simplyfit Supersprint
The usual Simplyfit Supersprint (Short Course) will be held no earlier than 10am, but if you normally race the Long Course, we encourage you to race this event too (that are both pretty short). In fact, if you are racing our series for points, this event will double as our point scoring race for the Long Course event.
If you usually race the Simplyfit Supersprint, your series points will be determined by your position against other Simplyfit Supersprint competitors only – you won’t be competing against the usual Long Course competitors (and we may even set you off in a separate wave).
If you normally race Long Course, we will only compare your results to other Long Course competitors.
