The
Mudgee Marathon Weekend enters its 9th year and 2009
sees the return of last year's inaugural and very
successful 10km Fun Run, along with its usual program
of the 5km Fun Run, Half Marathon & Marathon.
The Mudgee race is well known for its relaxed friendly
atmosphere which is perfect for the first timer who's
looking for a no-pressure race, yet is still a course
that is challenging to the experienced marathoner.
The course weaves itself through the picturesque Mudgee
valley; past vineyards, farmland, grazing cattle,
and a band of friendly and enthusiastic volunteers
cheering you on!

Mudgee
is the second oldest settlement west of the Blue Mountains,
250 km west of Sydney and about a 3.5hr drive via
the Great Western Highway. With over 40 cellar doors
and numerous award winning restaurants and cafes,
extend your Marathon Weekend and enjoy the special
experience that is the Mudgee region. Try your hand
at gold fossicking on a visit to the historic villages
of Sofala and Hill End. Go horse riding or walk along
the Wallaby Track with Henry Lawson. Lose yourself
exploring the historic gold rush town of Gulgong with
its Prince of Wales Opera House, Henry Lawson Centre
and Pioneers Museum. Take a drive to the Western Plains
Zoo in Dubbo, just an hour & a half away, as are
the limestone caves and phosphate mine in Wellington. |
